Vision & Values
At Ashley C of E Primary, we aim to build the foundations for a love of one another, a love of learning and a love of life. Our vision and values support our pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and shape their interactions with the natural world. This ensures Ashley children are ‘world-ready’ and able to take advantage of the experiences they have in later life.
Vision
Taking inspiration from the bees in our hives, we belong together as we:
- Care for one another, the environment and the wider community, so that we live well together.
- Challenge ourselves, so we can be the best we can be/reach our potential.
- And explore the big questions, so we can learn about God’s world and follow in Jesus’ footsteps and understand God’s miracles.
This can be expressed Biblically as “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind and love your neighbour as yourself.”
Matthew 22:36-39
Values
Our values - Care, Courage, Curiosity - help us to live out our vision. They run through our ethos, curriculum and underpin our teaching and learning to provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be kind, happy and respectful citizens.
In our ‘Achiever’s Assembly’, we acknowledge children who have demonstrated and ‘lived’ our values.
Rev. Cathy Blair and others from St Mary’s Church, lead our worship on a regular basis, to reinforce our understanding of each value as they share stories from the Bible. Children also have opportunities to plan, prepare and lead worship for the school.
Aims of the School
In partnership with parents/carers, we will:
- Ensure children acquire the progression of skills necessary for them to be independent, responsible and courageous learners.
- Ensure all children experience success and reach their full potential by maintaining consistently high but achievable expectations.
- Develop the ‘whole child’ in mind, body, spirit and imagination to ensure positive self-image and self-confidence are secure.
- Promote the values of a Christian faith and help children to find their place in the communities and societies within which they live.
- Ensure all members of the school community feel valued, respected, joyful and secure in their role within the school, regardless of ability, race, gender or creed.
British Values
As a school, we offer many opportunities for children and adults to promote the fundamental British values of:
- democracy
- the rule of law
- individual liberty
- mutual respect and tolerance of of those with different faiths and beliefs.
